Our Ancaster Community
Our community of Ancaster is located on the Niagara Escarpment in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. It is a growing urban area which still retains its strong agricultural base. The Ancaster Community boasts many beautiful natural locations and offers residents an unmatched combination of urban and rural environments. The annual Ancaster Community Fall Fair continues a long tradition which showcases the many elements of the local agricultural base. 
The Ancaster Community is the home of the Meadowlands, a large commercial area which serves Hamilton and the surrounding areas out to lake Erie. The Meadowlands is the home of the Silver City Theatre Complex, large stores and many restaurants. A large Walmart, Canadian Tire Store and related retail properties are also part of the community.
Many new housing developments have been built to house the growing population. In spite of this development the community remains very "green" as the large Hamilton Conservation Areas which contain over 7000 acres of protected natural lands wander through sections of the community. When coupled with the Niagara Escarpment, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Site, the urban parts of Ancaster are closely aligned with many accessible natural areas. As a rapidly growing residential area, there are many needs in the community for recreational opportunities and the Rotary Club has helped to respond to these needs by being one of the signature sponsors of the New Ancaster Community Centre. The two local Rotary Clubs have jointly committed to fund $500,000 for the centre with the new section named the Rotary Centre. As a further part of our community service the club annually participates in the Ancaster Heritage Day Parade and collects over $1200 which is donated back to the Heritage Days Committee to help fund this keynote of the annual June event.
