Children of Chernobyl Respite ProgramThe Belarus Children of Chernobyl international aid program is another youth and international activity supported by members of the Ancaster Rotary Club. It is targeted to assist young people from Belarus who live in the area affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The project was initiated to provide humanitarian aid and assistance to youth living in this area. The project entails bringing participants to Canada to provide a healthy change from their contaminated environment and providing medicines and related supplies to others living in those areas. Bill Dawson, President of the Club for 2006/7 is especially active with this project and has enjoyed being a host of a participant each summer.
